FRONTIER AMERICANA OF FARGO – Todayz North Dakota Travel and Recreation 2011/2012

Frontier America Fargo ND

Title Frontier Americana

By Michelle Ochsner

Frontier Americana of Fargo presents extraordinary collectibles for enthusiasts of the old west.  The gallery, established in 1997 by Jim Jasken, and Pete Erickson, exhibits a large collection of antiques, unique firearms, as well as an impressive collection of Americana. In 2005, Bob “Mike” Richard became a member of the team and is one of a handful of specialists in vintage sights offering hundreds of original examples.

This unique gallery consistently stocks a large selection of collectible firearms, Americana, (cowboy, Native American, trapper, buffalo hunter, CW & Indian Wars U.S. military) and western art (both classic & contemporary). They have had many unique items come through; such as the full set of horn furniture made from Long Horns or a Sharps Rifle that belonged to an officer at Fort Fetterman on the Boseman Trail. The Fort was named after William Judd Fetterman. The Fetterman Massacre, as the encounter became known, was second in notoriety only to Custer‘s disastrous defeat in 1876.

Whether you are interested in their large collection or would like your collection appraised, Frontier Americana of Fargo is there to serve their customers. Conveniently located in the heart of Fargo’s downtown district at 114 Broadway Suite G6 in the Black Building, Frontier Americana of Fargo is excited to see downtown blossom into an award-winning and vibrant neighborhood featuring galleries, museums, destination antique & boutique shops, and restaurants over the past decade.

Open Monday – Thursday: 10am to 5pm (or by chance) Call (701) 241-4440 or visit www.frontieraof.com

NaPoWriMo2014, I Bid You Adieu

National poetry writing month 2014 has come to an end and I find myself in wanting.  The month of April magically transforms into rhythms, stanzas, beats, and lines.

This last week I find myself searching for poetry prompts and muses. I’ve discovered that my participation in writing challenges allows me to let go and become uninhibited.  The words flow more freely and believe it or not,  I don’t dread the blank page with the forever blinking cursor.

I want to take a moment and give a shout out to Robert Lee Brewer and Writer’s Digest for putting such a creative and unique spin on prompts. Knowing my pieces would be read and judged by esteemed author’s and poet’s made me all the more enthusiastic.

Also a huge thanks to Maureen Thorson and those at NaPoWriMo.net. That woman is a genius in her own right!  I’m not sure how she does it, but the prompts are outside the box and clever.  I’ve learned so much about myself and my writing by letting her ideas in.

Of course I couldn’t have completed the challenge without you WordPress bloggers. You guys are truly amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the encouragement and support.  If it wasn’t for those who visit my site,  I’d have no one to speak with.

The year thus far has more than proven interesting.  I’m looking forward to the up in coming months for other writing challenges, competition’s,  and quests.

The Amazing Spiderman 2

The second part of Marc Webb’s, The Amazing Spiderman is a great movie however; falls short on the amazing.

I try to go into these, comics made into movies, with an open mind.  Hey,  I’m a writer.  I’m creative.  I get it. But to completely rewrite an already awesome story?

Why Stan Lee, why?

Yes the Parkers were killed in a plane crash; because they were secrete CIA agents, recruited by Nick Furry, discovered by Red Skull who had them assassinated. Peter also discovers that his parents had been set up and are not the traitors they were made out to be.

Yes, Gwen Stacy did die because of the merciless Green Goblin. But get this; it was not Harry! It was his crazy dad, Norman Osborn.

The main plot in the film does stick with the important aspects of the Marvel Universe to make sure the story continues to coincide from one Marvel movie to the other. After all, how else would Hollywood get movie goers to spend money on flicks that are leading up to the final Avengers?

It’s really too bad that these blockheads rewrote this tale with the mindset that no one would care about the little details. Seriously? It’s those details we love the most!

The Amazing Spiderman 2 was a good movie but should have been fabulous.

The Scarlet Witch, in the next Avengers, created an alternate universe to please Magneto in a Spiderman comic. If only Spidey and the gang had been written into an alternate universe. Now that would not only explain everything,  it would have made this movie truly amazing.
